Why we do not pressure-wash the house.
Pressure washing a house can etch paint, drive water behind cladding, and leave the roots of the algae alive so it comes back faster. Soft washing treats the organism, then rinses it off at garden-hose pressure.
I wash vinyl, fiber cement (Hardie), stucco, brick, and painted wood. Stucco and older paint get a slower pass. Landscaping gets pre-wet and rinsed. Soffits, eaves, and gutter faces are part of a house wash unless we agree they are not.
Most homes here need a house wash every 12–18 months. Pollen season in spring — and the humid stretch after it — is when people notice.
